The Foundations

Bringing together a mix of coaching and psychotherapy The Foundations is a course that seeks to bring hope for care givers and their families where there are differing neuro-types. Written by two mums who are also practitioners, The Foundations introduces a new framework whereby caregivers and their families can develop an action plan that in turn offers confidence.

What are The Foundation sessions?

It’s a 6 session programme designed to give neuro-affirming families space to identify needs and resources that will enable them to thrive together.

Why did we write this programme?

The why feels important as we navigate these sessions. After many years as professionals working with people and as parents of children who are neurodivergent, we wanted to write something that we wished we’d had. Something that had meaning beyond the how to’s and behaviours. Something recognising that in all our encounters as family, connection and kindness are key to enabling us to thrive as individuals and as a unit.

The sessions are designed to give you an opportunity to reflect on your family dynamics based on beliefs and behaviours. Life is so full and we are often managing complex and differing needs that we don’t give ourselves time to reflect on the why. There are some wonderful courses out there for parents and parenting, our offering to the world is one that centers the emotional needs of the family as a whole as well as individuals and using knowledge and reflection will provide you with a small space to build your own structure by which your family can thrive.

Emma Scott

I have spent most of my working life in the charity and faith sector identifying and managing teams with a commitment to creating and building community. I am the mum in a neuro-spicy family and have been involved in supporting other parents for the last 10 years, firstly working with Merton Mencap, then as a school governor and latterly in my private practice as a psychotherapist.

My vision is a world affirming different neuro profiles and for neurodivergent individuals to experience less mental ill health. I dream of a world where children grow up without shame and a heap of confidence in who they are.

In my out of work time I love reading, having a walk with my faves and enjoying a kitchen disco…and I’m always making up my own lyrics!
